Scrap Wood turned into Fall Yard Signs

It's that season

FALL

You know what that means.
Cooler temps, leaves turning brilliant colors, fires crackling inside and outside,
pumpkin scented candles, pumpkin desserts and fall festivals every weekend.

There is a hugely attended Harvest Day Festival this Saturday in Inman, SC.
It just happens to be the town where the antique store is located that I have a booth in.

I have been working on stocking up my space and making a few things to sell outside at the festival.

I've been wanting to make some fall signs and finally got around to it.
I used some of our scrap fence boards to make a few signs this week.

I started out by drawing an arrow shape on a fence board and cutting it out.
I was able to cut three 2' long arrows from one 6' long fence board.

Then I painted the arrows in different fall colors
 and used my Silhouette Cameo
to cut vinyl stencils to use to paint the words on each sign.

If you do not have a die cutting machine, no worries.
You can click here to see another sign project that I used a chalk tracing method on.

I sanded the edges and lightly distressed each sign before
adding some raffia.

I used a few other pieces of scrap lumber as stakes for each sign.
These stakes are screwed to the arrows from the back.

Now they can be used in the yard or stuck in a bale of straw.

Three of the signs are made with just one arrow.

and this sign is made using three arrows.

I kindof like the triple sign best, but I really like the red FRESH APPLES sign too.
Do you have a favorite?

'til next time,

  2. I like the Fresh Apple sign, too. (I like them all.) I think it could be used as a decoration from summer to fall and even at Christmas. I wish I was going to the festival, it sounds nice.

    1. The pumpkin sign sold first, but I still like the fresh apple one. I've had fun doing the festivals, but the only down side is that you can't really walk around and see much of it because you are at your own booth most of the time.

  3. Oh my! Those fall signs are super adorable! I love the font type, which has a very halloweenish vibe, and of course the mandatory fall colors of browns, yellows, oranges and reds. I'm sure your yard looks even more gorgeous with such darling additions. Thank you so much for sharing! Wishing everyone a happy autumn season!
