Old Pickle Jars into Pottery Barn Knockoffs

You might want to think twice before recycling your old pickle jars.

Upcycle them instead.

Wood Christmas Sled Mini Makeover

After a wonderful visit at my moms last week,
I came home with a truck load of goodies

This wood and metal sled was one of them!

It's definitely cute, but I decided to give it a mini makeover.

Handmade French Christmas Postcard Ornaments

My taste in decor varies so much.
I love rustic, of course I have to right? I live in a log cabin.
I also love chippy, shabby farmhouse goodness too.

The ornaments I made today fall into the latter category.

I decided to use some of my fabric scraps to create Christmas ornaments.

Old Leather Horse Harness Christmas Wreath

Last year I picked up this old leather horse harness at an estate auction
from a farmhouse here in South Carolina.

(this is the back, I did not take a before pic)

I actually bid on it because it had a roll of old chicken wire with it. The wire was perfectly aged and rusty in spots and would work perfectly for so many projects I have on my list.

The harness got put in the attic of my workshop for a while, I even think it made it into the Goodwill donation box at least once before I decided to hang onto it.

Boy am I glad I kept it.

Burlap and a Dollar Tree Ornament

During a recent trip to the Dollar Tree to pick up a gift bag,
a package of 6 glittery snowflake ornaments made their way into my cart.

Believe it or not, this creation was not what I had in mind when I purchased the snowflakes.

I'll get around to creating my original idea and post about it later...

Old Tin Measuring Cups Turned Christmas Decor

Are there certain items that you always tend to purchase when you find them at a really good price?
Even if you don't need them or know what you are going to do with them?

Aluminum measuring cups are one of those things that I always grab when I see them.
I don't even know why, except that I like them.

Here's another quick and easy, simple and neutral wreath.

The inspiration for this wreath came from Pinterest.

Handmade Holiday Ticking Pillow Covers with Vintage Images

Who doesn't love changing throw pillows for each season?

It's such an easy way to change up a room.
They can quickly add pops of color or seasonal accents.

I'm loving the way a few throw pillow covers I made this week turned out!

Bottle Brush Trees and Old Wooden Spools

I picked up a bag of old wooden thread spools at a flea market last week. There were 9 of them, 4 of one design and 5 of another. The 4 shorter, fatter spools have graphics from a textile factory in Shelby NC on the tops and bottoms of them.

I had a few ideas of what I thought I would use the spools for.
My first thought was to use them as hooks on a coat/hat rack, but then the cooler weather changed my direction.

I decided to jump ahead a little to CHRISTMAS!!!!

Rustic Wood Framed Faux Winter Chalkboard

Brrr

Waking up to the coolest temps so far this Fall and the first frost this morning,
makes this faux chalkboard art seem appropriate.

I had been given this rustic wood frame back in the summer and have held onto it until now.
I love that it has the bark left on the outer edges.

Chalkboards are super "IN" right now and I have yet to create one, but it is on my list of projects. You know that list, the one that never seems to end.
