Repurposed Old Wood Crate and Clothes Hanger into a Spring Caddy

A dirty old wood crate spoke to me at a flea market last year and I took it home.

I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but I liked it.

I like it even better now.

The idea hit me last week to add a vintage clothes hanger to the crate to turn it into a caddy
and I already had the perfect vintage hanger!

First, I cleaned the crate and removed the brittle leather strips from the sides.
Then I painted it with a few coats of a seafoam green color and distressed it.

I cut the clothes hanger to fit inside of the crate

Then, with the hanger in place,
I drilled small holes through the crate and the hanger
so that I could glue a small dowel through them
to securely hold the hanger in place.

The ends of the dowels were cut off even with the crate and touched up with some paint.

The crate even has two dovetailed corners, giving it more personality!

It fits six pint size mason jars perfectly.
I think a mix of fresh wild flowers in each of the jars would look so pretty.

I like the combination of the vintage items together,
what do you think?

Would you use it to hold flowers or as a caddy for something else?

'til next time,

    1. Thank you Sherri. My week has been fantastic. I just got my certification back from the state for my LLC. Simply Country is "official". Lots of paperwork and learning still, but I'm on my way. I guess I'm a small business owner now!
I hope you are having a great week also!
